Project Overview

The Creston Valley Housing Corporation (CVHC) is developing a transformative mixed-use project that combines a new 110-space childcare facility with modern market rental housing in the heart of Creston. Designed to address two critical community needs, the project will provide licensed childcare spaces for infants, toddlers, preschool-aged children, and school-aged children, while also increasing the supply of quality rental housing for individuals, families, and the local workforce. The childcare facility has been approved by the Province of British Columbia and includes purpose-built indoor learning environments and dedicated outdoor play areas designed to support healthy child development.

The residential component consists of a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom market rental units located above the childcare facility, creating a vibrant and family-friendly development. Funding for the project is being achieved through a combination of provincial childcare grant funding and private borrowing by CVHC for the residential component. Over the past year, the project has advanced through planning and design with the support of architects, engineers, construction professionals, and project manager Michael Lewis, whose extensive construction experience has helped guide the Board through design development, budgeting, and procurement planning. The project is currently moving into the detailed costing phase, bringing the community one step closer to new childcare spaces and additional rental housing opportunities.
